Welcome Thomas Peeks as Board President

The Board of Directors and Leadership Team of Berkeley Food & Housing Project is announcing that after serving two terms, Kajsa Minor has stepped down as Board President as of June 2021 and is succeeded by longtime board member, and previous Vice President, Thomas Peeks. Kajsa will be remaining on as a member of the board.

“It has been a great pleasure working with Kajsa. I have learned a great deal from her guidance as Board President. I look forward to moving the agency forward under the able leadership of Thomas Peeks.”

Kajsa Minor, who joined BFHP’s Board in 2012, is a partner at San Francisco-based Shartsis Friese LLP, where she practices civil litigation. She was born and raised in Berkeley and is now raising her two daughters in Berkeley.  We have been grateful to have her skills and experience in the position of board chair since 2017 when she took over from President Emeritus, Dr. Larry Rosenthal.

“I serve because I was lucky to be born into a family who can provide me a safety net should I need one. BFHP is a safety net for those who need one, and provides services to get people into a safer, healthier chapter of their lives.” – Kajsa Minor

BFHP was fortunate to welcome Thomas Peeks to the board in 2016. Thomas brings a range of skills and interests to the organization. After 32 years of diverse service to organizations such as Dun & Bradstreet and Xerox Corporation, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit to open a health and fitness studio. As the owner and operator of Fitness Together, in Lafayette, Thomas gained a strong sense of community building that has remained one of his passions in retirement. Thomas is passionate to do everything he can to support BFHP’s mission to ease and end the crisis of homelessness in our communities.

“I am haunted by the number of people who have no alternative than to live out their existence with no permanent housing. I cannot stand by seeing these people suffer without lending a helping hand. That is why I serve on the Board of BFHP and make donations to help fund our programs.” —Thomas Peeks

We thank Kajsa for her years of service as Board President and look forward to what Thomas will bring to the table moving forward.
