Formerly Berkeley Food & Housing Project
Terrie Light, our esteemed Executive Director since 2006 has retired from her role as of June 15th. We have known of Terrie’s plans for some time and our Board of Directors has been conducting a search for her replacement since last fall. The search has been extended and in this transition period Marc-Andrew Aguilera, our Director of Finance and Administration, has assumed the role of Interim Executive Director.
Marc-Andrew has been with the agency since 2016 and brings more than twenty years of experience in identifying and implementing creative financial and operating solutions for non-profit organizations. He received his bachelor’s degree from USC and attended law school at UC Berkeley.
Terrie Light has agreed to stay on as a consultant to work with board and staff to bring our new building to completion. In partnership with BRIDGE Housing, the new building on Berkeley Way, between Milvia and Shattuck, will bring much needed permanent supportive housing for the homeless when it opens in 2022.
Terrie will be missed both professionally and personally by the whole BFHP team, but we wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavors.
Of Terrie’s remarkable accomplishments, Board Member Dr. Larry Rosenthal said this:
Terrie has been this agency’s guiding light, its resident expert, its booster and cheerleader, and its inspiration. In Terrie we always have had the most formidable champion, in the fight to ease and end homelessness in our communities. Perhaps the most powerful manifestation of that promise is the Berkeley Way project. Terrie’s devotion to that dream has inspired us all, and there is no greater testament we as a board can foster toward her legacy than to see that great project through to fruition. Heartiest congratulations on your well-earned retirement.
